Hinamatsuri Events in Ibaraki

Hinamatsuri, also known as the Doll Festival or Girls’ Day, is held on March 3rd every year. This historical seasonal festival can be traced back to the Heian Period (794-1185). Many places display dolls for around a month before the day of the festival. Many people will drink shirozake, a sake made from fermented rice, and eat hina-arare, coloured and flavoured crackers, and chirashizushi, sushi rice with a variety of toppings.
